CONSIDER NATURAL ELEMENT AS A PART OF ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENT
SUCH AS THE SHADING ON SOLID WALL,THE SKY AS THE CEILING OF ROOM

THE DESIGN OF VILLA THAT LET TREE,WIND OR SUNSHADING RENDER THE WALL
OR THE VILLA ITSELF.

CREATE DYNAMIC SEQUENCE OF SPACE TO ADJACENT THE SITE CHARACTERISTIC
(USING THE ARCHITECTRAL ELEMENT AND NATURAL ELEMENT)AND PRIVACY.

THE LAY OUT

THE MAIN ROAD IS COVERED BY BAMBOO OR THICK TREES.THE GUEST
CAN NOT SEE THE LAKE UNTIL THEY REACH THE LOBBY.

THE POOL IS PLACE AS THE SEMI PRIVAT AREA TO GIVE PRIVACY TO THE
GUESTROOM AREA AND CAN CONSIDER AS THE VIEW FROM LOBBY AND RESTAURANT.

THE LOBBY AND RESTAURANT

USING THE RHYTHM BETWEEN COLONADE AND LONG RENDERED WALL AS THE FIRST
APPROACH OF BUILDING. THEN USING HUGE OPENING,SUNKEN LOBBY AND COLUMN IN
POND TO ADJACENT THE VIEW OF THE LAKE.

THE OVERFLOWING BIG BOWL IN THE HALL IS DESIGN AS THE ORIGIN OF ALL THE WATER
IN THE LAKE.THIS CREATE THE INTERESTING SEQUENCE OF SPACE(FROM BOWL TO POND,
FROM POND TO WATER CURTAIN FROM WATER CURTAIN TO THE LAKE.THIS WATER BOWL IS
INSPIRE BY ''RANNAM'' (THE SMALL WATER BOWL FOR PUBLICE DRINKING
IN FRONT OF EVERY TRADITIONAL LANNA HOUSE) GIVING A SENSE
OF HOSPITALITY AND ALSO THE SYMBOL OF WELCOME.

THE DESIGN OF LOBBY AND RESTAURANT DESIGN FOR EVERY SEAT CAN
ENJOY THE VIEW OF THE LAKE AND HAVE A HUGE PRIVACY.

THE VERICAL FIN IS THE ADDITIONAL ELEMENT TO MAKE THE RESTAURANT
MORE PRACTICAL AND INTERESTING(ARCTICLE D).BECAUSE THE BUILDING IS
FACE SOUTH-WEST DIRECTION.

THE VILLA

THE OUTDOOR FOYER GIVE THE SENSE OF TROPICAL HOUSE AND CREATE MORE
PRIVACY TO THE VILLA.

THE IDEA OF SEQENCED SPACE IS BASICLY THE SAME AS THE LOBBY,
USING THE CONTRAST BETWEEN SOLID WALL AND THE HUGE OPENNING TO
ADJACENT THE VIEW OF LAKE.

THE PIVOT DOORS WITH ADJUSTABLE BLIND PLAY THE MAJOR ROLL TO
GIVE THE SENSE OF OUTDOOR-INDOOR TO THE VILLA.THEY CAN ALL OPENED
AND BLIND UP TO MAKE THE VILLA IS LIKE SALA.

OR THEY CAN BE ALL OPENED AND BLIND DOWN(LIKE A SOLID PARTITION)
TO GIVE MORE PRIVACY AND AS SHADING TO VILLA.

THE JAGUZI AREA CAN BE CONSIDERED PART OF BEDROOM OR PART OF
BATHROOM DEPEND ON USING OF PIVIT DOORS.

THE ROLL BAMBOO BLIND WITH VINYL GIVE THE PRIVACY TO

Initiator

Having both an eduction in the hotel field, we have since years the dream for our own restaurant or small hotel. Systematically we were browsing Asia and Switzerland for the ideal places. Top on our list was Thailand.

When we received the invitation from Hans Knecht for his house-warming party in Chiang Mai in November, things speeded up. Hans Knecht, who was living his whole live in Asia and used to be 23 yaers ago our best man when we married in Singapore. Andy impatiently as ever, when an idea is close, could not wait until November. His business in China, Mannhart Consultants as handed over successfully to Reto Tomasini. So we visited Chiang Mai in August 2007. And without hesitation after seeing the stunning properties of Hans and Thomas, the nice landscape of outside of the city of Chiang Mai and the comfortable climate, were 100% sure that this will be our new challenge, building a small Boutique Resort Hotel in Chiang Mai.

The Royal Family The Royal Family is highly revered. No lack of respect or criticism is accepted. The law of lese majeste is alive and well. In many country areas the Royal Anthem is played at eight o'clock in the morning, and at six in the evening when everything grinds to a halt. Be mindful even of offending images of HM the King such as stepping on bank notes, coins etc.

Thai Culture

Do not be embarrassed when you see Thai people kneeling or even crawling before their elders and betters, it is for them perfectly acceptable and in no way humiliating - but you do not need to follow suit. Thai humour is splendid and often very bawdy, however it is sometimes difficult to translate foreign humour, so do not be offended if no one laughs at your jokes. The class system flourishes in Thailand, so that things you can do and say with one person may not go down at all well with another. If you learn a little Thai from a friend who may use lots of slang, another friend will know exactly where you have been ? so be careful! Accent has little place in Thai so by changing the words you use you can easily alter your social position. It is better not to ask negative questions as Thais do not know whether to say yes or no in reply. Yes in Thai can mean many things. "Yes, I heard you but I haven't a clue what you mean". "Yes, I heard you, I understand what you want but I don't agree with you and I won't do it". Yes, I heard you, I agree with you and I will try and do it". Try to keep calm and relaxed whatever the provocation or however frustrated you may be. Be polite, smile, try and make a joke, don't rush things and try to speak softly. Thais are adept at working things out in their own way and they do not like confrontation. Do not show too much naked flesh in the cities or even at lakes or waterfalls although on the beach it is acceptable.
